College Football Picks Week 9, 2026

Where Griff was WRONG in Week 8:

Hawaii at Northern Illinois +4.5 – “I’m sorry, but what the hell is Hawaii doing in Dekalb, Illinois? It’s the 1-6 Rainbow Warriors vs the 0-6 Huskies. Maybe the UNDER is the play instead, but I can’t, in good conscience, bet Hawaii as a favorite in this spot.” – Hawaii won 56-21 (the total was 49.5, btw).

NC State -6.5 at Stanford – “The Cardinal are just not good. Don’t get fooled by their flawless 3-1 home record...The Wolfpack are coming off a bye, they’ve beaten Louisville, they are the 44th best scoring offense going against the 133rd worst scoring defense.” – Stanford won 31-28.

Where Griff was RIGHT in Week 8:

Oregon at Illinois +9.5 – “Are you really going to take Oregon -9.5 with Raiola at QB after what you’ve seen from him?” – Illinois won 21-10.

Michigan State at UCLA UNDER 43.5 – “Since losing Nico, UCLA’s games have ended 17-15 and 17-7. They have the 12th best rushing offense in the nation. I think they’re fine with leaning on the running game just to get a win. All UCLA has to do is win and they can get in the CFP.” – UCLA won 28-10 (with a 46-247-3 TD line).

Last week: 10-6 / 2026 record: 71-58-1 / Since 2022: 441-412-11

Dominic Toretto’s “Take it or leave it” Pick of the Week (2026: 4-5 / Overall: 26-28-1): Kansas at TCU UNDER 46.5 – TCU is 6-1 to the UNDER this year. Even against West Virginia last week (the Mountaineers had been 6-0 to the OVER), that game went UNDER. Their defense is legit, maybe even moreso than North Dakota State. If WVU can’t hit the OVER against TCU, I don’t think Kansas will either.

Baylor +1.5 at UCF – This is the spot of all spots. Baylor just (finally) fired Dave Arranda. They get an emotional boost from the interim coach. UCF just upset #2 BYU at home. It’s an emotional letdown spot.

Notre Dame -30.5 at Navy – Notre Dame has won the last three vs Navy by 39, 37 and 39 points. Either Notre Dame covers with ease or they lose outright. Pick your poison.

Arizona at Texas Tech OVER 54.5 – TTU is now 5-2 to the OVER this year. Arizona is 3-4 on OVERs but they’re 2-1 on the road. I just looked at this number and felt it. Feel it with me.

Wisconsin at Iowa UNDER 36.5 – Classic B1G game. Iowa just lost its best running back. Wisconsin giving up 12 ppg over its last four (4) games. I think we get 11 punts.

SMU at Syracuse +10 – Syracuse are wearing helmets with “Otto the Orange” for the first time ever. SMU has not played in a dome since 2012. The Mustangs are vulnerable: trailed at halftime last week vs Cal before winning big, only beat Virginia, Boston College and Missouri State by a combined 29 points. Cuse just had a big 31-30 OT win at North Carolina. I think the crowd plays a big role in this game and Cuse may just win it outright.

Illinois at Maryland +2.5 – Same situation as Baylor. Maryland is also coming off a bye. Illinois coming off the win vs Oregon. I’m just betting the spot here.

Michigan at Rutgers UNDER 46.5 – I just don’t see where the points are coming from. I get that Rutgers is really bad and their defense is worse than really bad, but we’ve all watched Michigan’s offense. It’s terrible. Everyone wants the OC fired. And Michgan’s defense is elite. And Rutgers is just not good. Not good offenses typically don’t score against good defenses. This is an eyeball test game (Editor’s note: I wear glasses).

Stanford at Louisville OVER 60.5 – They’re a combined 12-3 to the OVER this year. UofL is off the bye. Stanford gives up 36 ppg while Louisville averages 39 ppg.

Florida vs Georgia -12.5 – Big Cat gave a stat on Pick Em that was something like: Georgia is 15-0 SU/12-3 ATS against ranked teams as a double digit favorite since 2020 and, after a loss in that same timeframe, they won their next game by at least 14 points. I’m choosing to follow the history.

Minnesota at Indiana UNDER 41.5 – IU is elite but they’re not the same elite team from last year. They’re scoring 16 ppg over their last three (3) games. They’ve allowed just 14 ppg over that same stretch. Minnesota is scoring just 15 ppg over that stretch. The Gophers are 0-4 in top 10 road games under PJ Fleck. IU has a bye week after this, so I think they gut out a win however they need to and regroup before taking on USC in a couple weeks.

Arizona State at BYU -16.5 – Last week was the perfect spot to fade BYU. They’re still 6-1 ATS/SU on the season. Arizona State is just not very good. They’ve been blown out by Texas A&M (coach is fighting with the media), Baylor (just fired coach) and Texas Tech (just lost to UC). Their recent wins are over Kansas on a different continent (Europe), Hawaii (lol) and Kansas State (no Avery Johnson). BYU will be just fine.

Northwestern +3.5 at Oregon – Oregon just cannot score. 15, 17 and 10 points in games without Dante Moore. How can you trust them right now?

UTEP at North Dakota State UNDER 42.5 – I hate talking all these UNDERs, I really do, but I’m just calling it how I see it. There are 138 FBS teams. UTEP’s offense is 136th in points and 1st downs, 133rd in yards per play and 138th in sacks allowed. NDSU’s defense is 3rd in points allowed, 5th in 1st downs allowed and 11th in yards per play. I really don’t think UTEP will score and NDSU won’t win 42-0.

Utah at UC +6.5 – Listen, the Cats are 4-0 ATS at home. Maybe I’m just a week late here, but I’ll take my chances.

Virginia at Wake Forest -12.5 – As I’m writing this (Thursday at 1:36 am), 67% of the public is betting Virginia +12.5 and 98% are on Wake Forest moneyline. What does that mean? I’m not entirely sure. My glass of Teremana is empty. But The Demon Deacons are a legit threat to win the ACC if they get to the title game. Their only loss was a 33-20 loss to Miami (FL). They’re coming off a bye week. Virginia is 3-5 with two (2) straight losses. I’m a little perplexed by this line. Perhaps there’s an injury I’m not aware of?

Nevada at UCLA UNDER 44.5 – Guys (and Mrs. Prifti), I really think we cracked the code on UCLA’s game plan right now. Run the ball. Play defense. Stay undefeated. They’ve gone UNDER in three (3) straight games. Giving up just 9 ppg over their last four (4) games. Nevada has gone UNDER in 2-of-their-last-3 games.

Oklahoma State -9.5 at Iowa State – Been riding the Cowboys all year and I’m not stopping now. 6-1 ATS. Iowa State has scored 13 points over its last two (2) games.

Ohio State at USC UNDER 51.5 – (Herb Brooks voice) “Again!” The better the competition OSU plays, the lower the scores are. OSU vs Texas (24-23), Iowa (31-14) and Indiana (19-15). USC is reeling but they still have the talent. Furthermore, this is the first time I can remember that Ryan Day has been forced to turn to a backup QB in the middle of the season. I gotta think he wants to dumb things down for this Fahey kid. If OSU wants to rely on the run game to produce more offense, the Bucks are 75th in the nation in rushing and USC’s defense is 33rd. Long story short, OSU slow plays this game and tries to just get the win. Anudder loss and their playoff hopes could be done.

Mississippi State at Texas -20.5 – MSU without Kamario is a completely different ball club. They scored 23 with an injured Kamario against Alabama then, without him, zero (0) at LSU and 15 vs Oklahoma. Texas obviously is hard to trust right now, but I trust MSU even less without Kamario.

Washington at Nebraska -7.5 – The Huskers are 6-1 ATS. Surprised? Me too. They lost the best games they played (vs IU and at Oregon) by three (3) points each game. They’ve won every other game by at least 18 points. Washington is not as good as IU or even Oregon.

Oregon State at Fresno State OVER 58.5 – After we hit all our UNDERs during the day, let’s wake up Sunday morning with an OVER hit. Fresno is 3-0 to the OVER at home. OSU is 6-1 to the OVER this season. Last year they scored 63 points in a 36-27 win for Fresno.

SEC Insider Picks of the Weekend

*the following is verbatim*

Mouth Watering Pick of the Week (2026: 2-6 / Overall: 22-27-1): South Carolina at Oklahoma -3.5 – Cocktober is over. Let down central after beating Tennessee. They are not going into Norman and keeping it to a field goal. Boomer.

Florida +12.5 vs Georgia – I don’t know much but I do know Buster Faulkner gives Georgia fits as an OC historically. Rivalry game. Jaden Baugh. Georgia banged up. This one is going to be a slug fest.

OSU -6.5 at USC – If you can get the Buckeyes under a touchdown, I think you have to take it. I don’t care who the QB is. Ryan Day knows [sic] QB’s, he will have Fahey ready to go. Theresa strategy remains the same, get the ball to 49[.]

Prem League Advisor Pick of the Weekend

2026 record: 2-6 / Since 2023: 15-19

Crystal Palace Double Chance +135

Feels like I’ve tried everything this year and nothing has worked, so let’s try the classic letdown spot. Tottenham is coming off a huge 2-0 win over Chelsea last week (we had Chelsea, I’m Sic). Tottenham is sneaky bad at home, while Palace badly needs points.
